Every wednesdays during lunch we get an oppurtunity to watch documentaries to get ideas and inspiration for our own construction.

This is one of the flim documentary that i watched and i loved it!
They had great editing, their voiceover matched the visuals really well and they used a different approach to execute their statistics and facts (higlighting the text)
I would love to use some of their techniques in my production.

During this break,I decided to work on our research and planning powerpoints hence I did more research on the chosen topic and found an article from BBC which was about the importance of internet and the survey that they did. I watched some documentaries to improve my knowledge.

When Miss set me this task, I did not understand it properly. Our task was to watch 1 tv documentary and 1 film documentary but I just watched you tube documentaries so after discussing with the teacher we did a 2nd draft as we watched several documentaries and analysed what we like( shots, camera angles, transitions etc)

Changes in the topic!

We discussed our idea and thoughts with miss and she suggested that instead of us just focusing on social networking sites, we should consider doing a documentary based on life online, like in our documentary we could probably like throw questions such as is there life online?, do people rely on the internet too much etc, I thought it the feedback from miss helped us as it gve us the chance to look at variety of things like comercialism, education, entertaintment, social networking on the internet etc, this can help us make the documentary even more interesting and appealing to watch for the target audience.

Group members

Now we have chosen who we want to work with and I have decided to work with Simisola and Tracy as Simi's idea was similar to mine so I thought if I work with them then all of us can offer something and make it a better production. We chose to carry on with my idea and some element of simi's idea as we had a really good in depth research about the topic (Social networking sites) and we thought with few more changes and effective research and planning we could make it a successful documentary for people to watch.

So far in Media

Well, right now we are just watching everyone's presentations in the lesson and first one to go was me :(, so becuase I was rushing to get things done,I only did a research on one of my topic so it was incomplete, however my teacher gave me a chance to re do it, so I finished it and went after school to present it again. at first I was quite worried as I was told that the head of media is going tobe watching me present as well but it went allright and I thought both the teachers gave me a lot of advice on how I can improve it to make it even more successful.

My idea

For my idea, I chosed to do a documentary as I thought I can do a 5 mins reality film of a intersting topic, so i had several ideas to do the documentary on, arranged marriages (main focus being indian weddings), sex change and social networking sites. Finally I chose to do a documentary on social networking sites as many people now a days are a member of atleast 1 social networking site and I thought it would be interesting to compare different sites and how are the audience being attracted etc.

My initial thoughts of the options available for year 13

I am really and truly waslooking forward to this year as we were given more choices, I liked the idea of doing a documentary as it is a everyday thing that people are interested in but it has to be done to a good standard.

My targets for this year

I know this year is my crucial year so it is very important for me to really push my self to get the best possible gradeso therefore I have set myself some specific targets to get me focused:

1. To spend more time in the media room during study periods.
2. To be organised myself on time management and get tasks done on time to meet deadlines.
3. Seek help if I dont understand the task (instead of relying on my group members, ask help from the teacher)
4. Have a better communication with the group members so that all works can be clearly done to the best ability.
5. Just spend more time on media. (Go home and read over any notes given by the teacher)

In my opinion, I feel that I could ofdone so much better last year, I think for my coursework, if we finished our evaluation to a good standard then the mark could of gone up but due to unfinished work I ended up getting a C but that is going to change this year!
My exam results was a total disaster, to be honest I thought I would not be takig media in year 13, so I was focusing on my other subjects than media but now Im regretting that as if I used the revision materials properly and studied, I could of got a C then the overall would have been a grade up.
